Homeownership
Under the homeownership program, assistance is available to Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) participants who meet the home ownership eligibility requirements. The homeownership program allows first time homebuyers to use the voucher subsidy to meet monthly homeownership expenses. HCV participants interested in applying for the HCV Homeownership program must meet the following minimum criteria:
Criteria- Must be a participant of the HCV program for at least one year in San Joaquin County.
- Must be a 1st time homebuyer
- Meet the minimum employment and income requirements
- Must be employed for at least 30 hours per week (except for disabled)
- Must earn at least $11,310 annually (welfare income not included)
- Must not have defaulted on a mortgage under the HCV Homeownership Program.
The homeownership program has a maximum term of 15 years. There are exceptions for disabled families. This program is limited.
